Hollywood’s 13 Greatest Heroes (the baker’s dirty dozen) are Locked, Loaded and Lethal

By:   KOOGE & Bradly Kingston

{In this episode and downloadable document, any mention of the word hero (masculine) also includes heroine (feminine).}

There was a time in Hollywood when there was no confusing the good guys from the bad guys.  Good guys were virtuous (Atticus Finch) wore white hats (Shane), were incorruptible (Will Kane) and sometime did not even carry guns (Destry).

Bad guys were clearly evil (The Wicked Witch), their word meant nothing (Darth Vader). evil names (Dr. No), had no redeeming qualities and had bad breath (King Kong-a sympathetic villain that the public feel in love with).

Now, as characters have become more sophisticated the anti-hero has become more and more prevalent. On the other hand, Anti-Heroes have character flaws. They have a dark side (Batman), they can be driven by revenge (Ben-Hur), they may not follow the rules (Hans Solo), or the chain of command (John McClain), they may be engaged in extra-legal activities (Rick Blaine), nail ever hot babe on the road to saving the world (Captain Kirk, Sean Connery’s Bond), do not observe local laws or authorities (Robin Hood, Zorro, Dirty Harry),

However, they are still heroes because they stand for a noble cause or resist tyranny, fascism or corruption.  Note: many heroes fall into multiple categories, so I have selected the one that most accuracy defines their motivation, personal style and mission.

The greatest heroes from Hollywood generally fall into one of the following groups

  1. AVENGERS/VIGILANTES/REBELS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEFS/MILITARY
