Thing of the Week

Hello Film Reverie. For this week’s Thing of the Week we found some great stuff that got our creative juices flowing. Hopefully you’ll find something in here that inspires you as well!

First. J.J. Abrams’ Ted Talk he called The Mystery Box . In here Abrams talks about his approach to creativity and storytelling. It’s a nice look inside his brain. He’s really entertaining, thought provoking, and pretty funny too. Have a look!

Second, an article about David Mamet we found on Chris Jones Blog. It’s titled a David Mamet Screenwriting Masterclass in a Memo and it’s just that. Mamet is a fantastic writer whose dialogue and characters are always impossible to look away from. See what he has to say about the whole thing.

Lastly, we originally found this little short film Invaders on It’s a funny little film that is a perfect example that simple doesn’t have to be cheap looking or basic. We laughed out loud when we saw this and we hope you do too!

That’s going to do it for this week. If you’re in the U.S., we hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday and we hope everyone else had fun watching the Americans eat too much and complain about their families. Don’t forget to check out our weekly podcast. This past week’s episode, Take 43 we had writers/producers/actors Jennifer Fontaine and Marlo Bernier on to talk about their passion project Myrna.

Until next time, be well and have fun!
